Paul van Ass: Former Dutch National Hockey team coach Paul van Ass has been appointed as the head Coach of Indian men’s hockey team. He succeeded Terry Walsh of Australia.

Dwayne Bravo: West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from Test cricket. The 31-year-old has played 40 Test matches.

Serena Williams: Tennis star Serena Williams has won the women’s singles title of Australian Open 2015 by beating Maria Sharapova of Russia in finals. 

Krishna Chaudhary: Krishna Chaudhary has appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Krishna Chaudhary succeeded Subhas Goswami who retired on 31 December 2014.

Agni V missile: India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed, intercontinental surface-to-surface nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-5, which has a strike range of over 5000 kms and can carry a nuclear warhead of over one tonne, from Wheeler’s Island off Odisha.

UNCTAD: United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has released Global Investment Trend Monitor Report. In 2014, China was the largest recipient of FDI with an increase of 3 percent FDI. As largest recipient of FDI, China replaced the US, a position that was held by it since 1980s.

Coal India Limited (CIL): Union Government has divested 10 percent of its stake in Maharatna Coal India Limited (CIL). With this, government’s share in CIL came down to 79.65 percent.
