SMEcorner.com has tied up with Flipkart: Mumbai headquartered online marketplace SMEcorner.com that facilities loans for micro, small and medium enterprises from banks and non-banking financial corporations (NBFCs), has tied up with e-commerce major Flipkart to service and arrange for its vendors.

Jean-Yves Le Drian: French Defence Minister Jean-Yve Le Drian will arrive in India on a three-day visit later this month to hold talks with his counterpart Manohar Parrikar. 

Kathmandu-Delhi bus service: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Sushil Koirala have flagged off the first ever Kathmandu-Delhi bus service. Kathmandu-Delhi bus service is called Pashupatinath Express.

Sania Mirza: India’s women tennis star Sania Mirza has been appointed as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for South Asia. She became the first South Asian Women to be appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador.

Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM): Guye Adola of Ethiopia won Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM) in men’s category. Adola finished the race in 59.06 minutes and broke the 2013 record of 59.12 minutes set by Atsedu Tsegay of Kenya. 

Michael Phelps: Michael Phelps was crowned Male Athlete of the Year at the 2014 USA Swimming Golden Goggle Awards. He was crowned with the title for a fifth time.

Haryana government: Haryana government has reversed the retirement age of government employees from 60 to 58 years. Government notification will come in effect from 30 November 2014.

UN Lighthouse Activities award: Aaranyak, an Assam based NGO working for conservation of nature and a Kathmandu based International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) won the United Nations Lighthouse Activities award for the year 2014.   

Canara Bank: Canara Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Micro Energy Credits Corporation to finance bank customers buying energy efficient ‘green’ products such as cook stoves, solar home systems, biogas digestors and water purifiers.

State Bank of India: State Bank of India (SBI) will launch an Islamic equity fund next month aimed primarily at the country’s 170 million Muslims. The Securities and Exchange Board of India recently allowed the government-owned State Bank of India and three mutual funds to launch Sharia funds.
