Pakistan test-fired short range missile ‘Hatf IX’: Pakistan successfully test-fired short range surface-to-surface missile ‘Hatf IX’ that has range of 60 km.

Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana: The union government has declared it would spend Rs 500 crore on skill development of urban poor. The skill development scheme has been named as ‘Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana’. The announcement was made by housing and poverty alleviation minister M Venkaiah and rural development minister Nitin Gadkari.

International Children’s Peace Prize 2014: An Indian origin girl is among three children who have been nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize 2014. The children who have been nominated are Neha from US, along with Alexey from Russia and Andrew from Ghana.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana: Union government of India has launched ‘Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana’ for Rural Development. The Yojana was launched during the 98th anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. Earlier the Yojana was known as Aajeevika Skills Development Programme.

Right Livelihood Award 2014: Edward Snowden and Alan Rusbridger won the Right Livelihood Award 2014.

Forbes Indian richest list 2014: The Forbes India magazine released ‘The 100 Richest Indian List 2014’. According to the Forbes India List, Mukesh Ambani topped the list for the eight consecutive years with a net worth of 23.6 billion US dollars.   

Amma Cement Scheme: The Tamil Nadu government has announced a popular ‘Amma Cement Scheme’ under which it will buy cement from private manufactures and sell them at Rs. 190 per bag in the wake of possible increase in rates of the key construction component. ‘Amma Cement Scheme’ aiming to benefit the lower and middle classes.
