ISRO successfully launched IRNSS 1C satellite: Indian successfully launched IRNSS 1C navigation satellite on board ISRO’s PSLV C26 rocket from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. IRNSS is called Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System. The first two satellites in the series — IRNSS 1A and IRNSS 1B were launched in July last year and April this year respectively.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate Karyakram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shramev Jayate Karyakram” scheme. Under the scheme, labourers will get Unique Labour Identification numbers, LIN, to facilitate their online registration. Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate to the nation a unified labour portal called Shram Suvidha.

Simone Biles: American Simone Biles, who won four medals at last week’s world gymnastics championships in china, was named Sportswoman of the Year award by the Women’s Sports Foundation. Women’s Sports Foundation founded in 1974 by tennis legend, Billie Jean King.

Rajiv Mehrishi: Rajiv Mehrishi has been named new Finance Secretary of India. He will replace Arvind Mayaram.

Ashok Leyland: Hinduja group flagship company Ashok Leyland has received an order worth USD 17 million to supply 630 buses to Sri Lanka operators.
