Abbas Ali: Freedom fighter Captain Abbas Ali died at the age of 95. He was captain in the Indian National Army led by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Abbas Ali was born in in 1920 Khurja, Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.

Shanghai Masters Men’s singles 2014: Former World No 1 Roger Federer has won the men’s singles title of Shanghai Masters Open 2014 by defeating French professional tennis player Gilles Simon in the final.

Ajay Jayaram: Indian shutter Ajay Jayaram has entered into the men’s singles final of the Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix in Almere, Netherlands.    

Indian Super League, 2014: Indian Super League, the Indian professional league for association football franchises has started. The ceremony celebration was organized at Kolkata, West Bengal. The opening match was played between Atletico de Kolkata and Mumbai FC.

Gatimaan Express: Delhi Agra semi-high speed train to be named Gatimaan Express. The semi-high speed train that proposes to reduce travelling time between Delhi and Agra to 105 minutes with running capability at 160 km/hr will be named Gatimaan Express.

Hudhud: Hudhud is the strongest tropical cyclone of 2014 within the North Indian Ocean. The storm made landfall near the port-city of Visakhapatnam.
