Thomas Kailath: Indian origin Stanford University professor Thomas Kailath has been nominated for the US top National Medal of Science. This is the highest Science award of America.

Maria Sharapova: A professional tennis player Maria Sharapova of Russia has won the women’s singles title of tennis China Open, 2014 by beating Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic.

Japanese Grand Prix, 2014: Mercedes Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton of Britain has won the Japanese Grand Prix, 2014 at Suzuka Circuit.       

Champion League Twenty20, 2014: Champion Super Kings (CSK) has won the Champion League Twenty20, 2014 by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final. Suresh Raina has been selected for Golden Bat award. Best bowler award has won by Sunil Narine.

Geraldine Mock: Geraldine Mock, the first woman to fly solo around the world, has died at the age of 88 at Florida, US.   

Shahrukh Khan: Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan has been honoured with Global Diversity Award 2014 by British parliament for his contribution in cinema.

Kie Nishikori: Japan professional tennis player Kie Nishikori has claimed WTA Japan Open title by defeating Milos Raonic in the final.
