Mary Kom: Indian boxer MC Mary Kom has bagged her first ever Asian Games gold medal. She defeated Zhaina Shekerbekova of Kazakhstan in the finals of the women’s flyweight category (48-51kg) at the 17th Asian Games in South Korea.

Living Planet Report 2014: World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has released the Living Planet Report 2014. The theme of the report is Species and Spaces, People and Places. 

ICICI Bank: India’s largest private sector bank ICICI bank has launched ‘Easy NRI Account’ a special account for the Non Resident Indians in the Middle East, allowing them for easy settlement without worrying about minimum balance maintenance. ‘Easy NRI Account’ has been designed with an objective to simplify the bank experience.

Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report 2014: United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has been released Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report (APTIR) 2014.    

Afghanistan, signed deals with US: Afghanistan has signed Bilateral Security Agreement with the US, with an aim to allow some US troops to remain in the country till 2015.

PM Narendra Modi US visit: In a boost to India’s 100 smart city programme, the US will help India in developing three such cities apart from joining hands with civil society and authorities to provide clean water and sewage in 500 cities in the country. The three cities are Allahabad, Ajmer and Visakhapatnam.

ET Award 2014: TCS has got the ET Award 2014. The award seeks to recognize a company that has consistently set clear performance benchmarks for the rest of the industry. TCS has overtaken Accenture in headcount and is now second only to IBM in the number of people it employees.   

PM Narendra Modi US visit: The two leaders PM Narendra Modi and President Barack Obama has agreed on boosting two-way trade to $500 billion from $100 billion.  

Rajiv: Rajiv has been appointed as new Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC). President Pranab Mukherjee on 30 September 2014 authorised Vigilance Commissioner Rajiv to act as chief of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) until the appointment of the Central Vigilance Commissioner.

Microsoft unveils Windows 10 operating System: Microsoft Corp. has announced its ‘Windows 10’ Operating System to replace the largely unpopular Windows 8.
