More than 55000 to be Recruited in Public Sector Banks this year

This year the IBPS Online Examination is going to be different as in addition to the existing common written test and interview, the IBPS is going to introduce a preliminary exam. The purpose of introducing the preliminary test is to select right person for the job by eliminating non-serious candidates, as informed by the Director of IBPS.

The IBPS Director has also informed that another objective is to arrest impersonation through a three-tier examination process. Scores from the preliminary exam will not be carried forward. Over 50,000 banking job aspirants are likely to go through the three-phrase selection process this year.

Last year IBPS received about 14 lakh applications last year for 16,000 vacancies for probationary officers in state-run banks, excluding State Bank of India. The addition of a new layer means fewer candidates will appear in the main exam and the scrutiny of credentials and photographs will be easier.

This year through various exams IBPS is going to select 20,000 officers and 30,000 clerks for various Public Sector Banks. There will be another more than 5000 jobs announced by other banks which means the recruitment figure is going to cross well over 55000 candidates this year.

Last year IBPS has cleared the recruitment of 16,344 officers, 3,784 specialist officers and 30,683 clerks in state-run banks; hence a total recruitment of 50811 candidates was done by the IBPS last year.
